What is OCR

OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition. It is a technology used to convert different types of documents- such as PDF, images and scanned paper documents taken by a digital camera into readable, editable and searchable text.

For example: suppose you scanned a bill receipt and saved in your system. You can not edit, search and count the number of character from your scanned copy of bill. But with the help of OCR technology, you can make editable, searchable and readable your scanned bill.

OCR widely used as a form of data entry from printed or scanned paper documents, it could be invoices, passport documents,  bank statement, business card or any suitable documentation.
